Google Calendar for Android Brings Back Month View, Gets Minor UI Changes

Google will soon be rolling out version 5.2 of its Google Calendar app with new features and minor UI changes, as per the announcement made by the company.

One of the major and much-needed feature that will be included in the latest version of Google Calendar will be the Month View feature for smartphones. The company had removed the feature when launching v5.0 of the app back in November, and only showed views based on one day, 3 days and one week.

Besides viewing more number of events at glance under the month view, the new Google Calendar app will also show the colour of events when jumping to a date. As for the user interface, these views will now be included under the navigation drawer inside the app and not under the three-dot 'More' option on the top right corner.

The updated Google Calendar app is rolling out gradually to Android devices. The search engine however, has added on its Gmail Google+ post that they will be bringing "many improvements" to the iPhone app as well. For those Android users who don't want to wait for the OTA update, they can manually download and install the update via the Google-signed apk file posted by Android Police.

Last month, Google launched its Calendar app for iPhone. Just like the new Google Calendar on Android, the iPhone app can automatically turn emails into Calendar events. So if you get an email with place, time, and date (not as attachment), then Google Calendar saves it as event entry to remind you later. Users can also disable the feature.

Other than that, Google Calendar on iPhone also brings 'Assists', which make suggestions to save the user's time in creating events, and also the new Schedule View (for one day, three days and a week).
