Highlights
  • The app now allows VoLTE phones users to make video calls
  • It also now sends persistent notifications to alert for incoming calls
  • This update bumps Jio4GVoice app's version to 1.6

Jio4GVoice app, which was initially launched as JioJoin, is a dialler app from Reliance Jio that can be used to make calls from your Jio SIM enabled phone, use Jio without a VoLTE capable phone, send text messages, and even make calls via the JioFi 4G hotspot (on Android). The iOS app has now received an update, with version 1.6 bringing in features like video calling support for VoLTE phones and persistent incoming call notifications as well.

The version 1.6 update to Jio4GVoice now lets VoLTE phone users make video calls through the app, something that was not possible before. Earlier, you could use the dialler to make calls or send SMSes, but it didn't allow you to make video calls. However, the latest update changes that, and a tiny video calling button also shows up next to the voice calling button for all your contacts. Of course, for the video calling to work, the user at the other end should also have Jio4GVoice app installed on their phone, and a working Jio SIM as well. Unfortunately, the iOS app does not support JioFi devices.

Jio4GVoice v1.6 also brings persistent incoming call notifications to let users know more distinctly when they receive a phone call. Apart from the new features, there's also the usual fresh crop of bug fixes and stability improvements that come along with every new update.

With this update, VoLTE users now have a reason to download Jio4GVoice, as it brings video calling support. Initially, VoLTE phone users with a Jio SIM could just use the normal phone dialler to call people. Jio4GVoice had some additional features, but it's something that could easily be ignored. Additional features include an 'urgent call button', which shows up on your contact's phone so they know it's not just chit chat. Furthermore, while in a call, you can also share your location, or share images, which sound useful, but are rarely used. With video calling support, users may be compelled to finally download the iOS app. The Jio4GVoice app for iOS can be downloaded for free from the App Store.
