Pinterest, the popular visual discovery social network, on Wednesday launched new 'app Pins' feature for iOS users which will allow them to pin and download apps directly from Pinterest boards.

With the updated Pinterest for iOS app (updated on Wednesday), when users come across an app Pin they will see a blue Install button on top alongside the option to 'Pin it'. Clicking on the Install button will allow users to install the app without leaving the Pinterest app.

"When you come across an app Pin, tap Install to download the app right to your iPhone or iPad without ever leaving Pinterest (you'll only see app Pins when you're using the Pinterest app on your iPhone or iPad). [...] Let's say you're Pinning workout inspiration to your Marathon Training board. If you see a fitness app that helps you reach your goals, you can download it right from Pinterest.," said company on its blog.

While Apple has launched an official App Store board on Pinterest for 'app Pins', individual users can also save their favourite apps right from the App Store itself. The App Store board is divided into sub-boards or collections, but for now, only five boards are present. Pinterest too has its own Staff Picks board.
