UC Browser for Windows, which was launched in April, now features UCWeb's cloud-based features. UCWeb says this allows the company to enable features such as data compression, pause and resume downloads, among others. The company claims that this technology lets users halve their data consumption while browsing, thereby boosting browsing speeds.
Other important features added by this update include cloud sync, which allows users to sync bookmarks and open tabs from the mobile versions of UC Browser. The company says the browser also allows people to pause and resume downloads and comes with a file manager that groups files by type.
UCWeb also announced a big update for the iPhone version of UC Browser. This update is not live yet and is expected to be available soon, a UCWeb spokesperson told NDTV Gadgets. Since this update comes a long time after the previous release, users can expect big changes. The company says the browser's user interface has been redesigned. UC Browser for iPhone also features an ad blocker and a video player.
The company claims is that the browser "automatically rearranges elements on a web page to give users the best viewing experience". The obvious gain is that Web pages will load faster and users will consume less data. This could lead to small gains in battery life.
The data compression feature is also available on the iPhone version of UC Browser, having been added with this update. Those who like customising their browser app might like a UC Browser feature that lets them change the wallpaper.
UC Browser for PC is available via UCWeb's website and the iPhone version, which will receive the update soon, is available on the App Store.
