Shikarwati Palace is no longer a centre of administration but is nevertheless presided over by a former king (Naseeruddin Shah) — who lives there along with his staff, including his secretary (Raghubir Yadav). He seems to be living happily in the glory of his past days until one day a disaster breaks through in the form of a whopping unpaid wealth tax — which he is in no position to repay.
It is then that his secretary presents the idea of tricking his four estranged and highly competitive daughters (Lara Dutta, Soha Ali Khan, Kritika Kamra, and Anya Singh) into coming back to Shikharwati — for, they may help with the situation. That kick starts a hilarious journey of innocent heists, devious plans, familial leg pulls, and the desperate attempts of a king to save his ancestral palace.
