Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare was officially announced this week. And its fans seem to be downvoting its trailer on YouTube in droves. At the time of writing this, it has 7,844,848 views with over 309,505 downvotes and 178,009 upvotes.

Granted every Call of Duty game has its fair share of haters as we've seen with prior instalments such as Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, but the vitriol this time around far outweighs any form of positive sentiment for the game. You can check it out below:

Some of it has to do with the game's sci-fi setting. It's something fans aren't too pleased about if the comments on the trailer are anything to go by.

"I'm really liked all your games until they became futuristic bullshit, Go back to your roots! Bring the good old wars, like WW1 & WW2," said adi4u48821.

"This video has over 300k dislikes and 100k likes come on Infinity ward and Activision you must be able to realise this is not what we want, you claim that you 'listen' to the community yet you do the complete opposite to what is wanted. Listen to the community and fix your franchise before you kill it," argues Colonel Cuddles.

"Is that the new Star Wars game?,"asks DaManWithDaPlann, hopefully sarcastically.

Over the past few years we've seen the Call of Duty series increasingly gravitate towards futuristic settings. With fans being agitated by such a move, it simply reminds older gamers of the time when the mid-2000s was filled with way too many World War II shooters.

Nonetheless, it will be interesting to see if the outrage translates into a loss of sales come November. Are you looking forward to Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare or are you one of the many downvoting it? Let us know in the comments.
