Highlights
  • Horizon Zero Dawn will be available in India from March 1, 2017.
  • The game is being developed by Killzone studio Guerrilla Games.
  • It should be priced at Rs. 3,499 digitally and Rs. 3,999 on disc.

Action-adventure game Horizon Zero Dawn finally has a release date. The PS4 exclusive fuses mechanical creatures with dense, lush forests in a post-apocalyptic setting and is developed by Killzone studio Guerrilla Games. You can finally play it in 2017 on February 28 in the US, March 1 in India and Europe, and March 3 if you're in the UK. It was initially planned for sometime in 2016.

You can safely expect it to be priced in line with Sony's other first-party games such as Gran Turismo Sport. This means it will be Rs. 3,499 via PSN and Rs. 3,999 at retail on disc.

Hermen Hulst, Managing Director at Guerrilla Games took to the official PlayStation Blog to explain the delay.

"It wasn't an easy choice to make; we know many of you have been anxious to play the game since we first announced it. However, we also want to ensure that Horizon Zero Dawn lives up to the visuals and gameplay quality that our games are known for. The new date affords us the extra time required to deliver fully on our ambitious vision for Horizon Zero Dawn," his post reads. "We realise that this decision may not please everyone. At the same time, we're confident that the advantages of the additional development time afforded by the new date will become clear in the coming months, as we start to share more cool details and videos from Horizon Zero Dawn."

This isn't the first PS4 exclusive that's been delayed. In the past we've seen Uncharted 4's release date been shuffled around a few times and most recently No Man's Sky was moved back by a little more than a month. Although the PS4 is touted to be easy to make games for, it's odd to see Sony's own games bearing the brunt of postponements.

It also makes us wonder what Sony has in store for the year barring the oft-rumoured PS4 Neo and PS VR. Hopefully all shall be known at E3 2016.
