  • Microsoft and Nike team up at E3 2012 to launch "Nike + Kinect Training" for users to train and get fit at home.
Furthering its success in fitness titles, Microsoft has teamed up with Nike to release "Nike + Kinect Training", an enhanced fitness program using Kinect for Xbox 360 at E3 2012. The accumulated knowledge of some of the biggest names in sports from Nike and the motion-sensor technology of Kinect, outdoor training can be brought straight to the comfort of your home.

Depending on the user's fitness goal, "Nike + Kinect Training" will take a person to their desired fitness goal by the use of the motion sensors of the Kinect that send the feedback to the virtual trainers. They can assess their own physical strengths and weaknesses, identifying which areas they need to improve. The user can then create a personalized fitness plan to follow for achieving what he/she thinks is best.

The real-time feedback of the program helps the virtual trainers track and understand progress and the software adjusts automatically to their training, making the person fitter. If the user cannot perform, there is an adjusted training plan and re-assessment after a stipulated period of time.

Every person training needs a competitive edge and one might wonder that training alone at home might not set the bar high enough. But with "Nike + Kinect Training", users can send their stats to other users and compete in challenges with them. Users can also share encouragements with each other. There is also the facility of the mobile app which is a more portable form of storing data and providing information on future workouts.
