While earlier Steam Sales have had Easter eggs and riddles to solve, the Steam Lunar Sale has it's own unique take on interactivity above and beyond the usual set of discounts.
There's a question in the style of Choose Your Own Adventure books from the home page onwards. Selecting an option from the likes of "pirates" or "ninjas" and driving or swimming results in you being taken to a page which has games from either theme such as Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag or Mark of the Ninja.
Much like every sale since last year's Black Friday blowout, there won't be daily or flash deals. Every game on discount will stay at the same price during the sale with Valve curating a different set each day. This is something that's worked to the advantage of game developers and publishers if leaked Steam Winter Sale statistics are to be believed.
A sale for the Lunar New Year appears to be a move from Valve to take China seriously. Shrewd considering that the predominantly PC market has seen the PS4 and Xbox One available officially since last year. It also opens the doors for sales based on local festivals other emerging territories for the Seattle-based company such as Russia and India.

And though we're still some time away before a set of Diwali-themed discounts, here's what you should pick up during this latest Steam sale:
Open-world crime simulator Grand Theft Auto V is 33 percent off. Rockstar's magnum opus is Rs. 1,967 instead of Rs. 2,937, making it well worth picking up if you haven't already.
Post-apocalyptic role-playing game Fallout 4 is also 33 percent off. It's Rs. 2,880 rather than the original price of Rs. 4,299, although it's season pass still remains pricey at Rs. 2,299.
The Tomb Raider reboot which was prior to the excellent PC version of Rise of the Tomb Raider is at a staggering 75 percent off. For the duration of the sale Lara Croft's previous adventure is Rs. 141 rather than Rs. 565.
Critically acclaimed turn-based strategy game, XCOM: Enemy Unknown is 75 percent off. This makes it Rs. 374 down from the original price of Rs. 1,499
The Talos Principle from the team behind cult classic shooter Serious Sam is sitting pretty with a 75 percent discount. Developer Croteam's latest effort available at Rs. 212 versus the usual Rs. 849.
The Steam Lunar New Year Sale will last until February 12, 11:30pm IST. What are you getting? Let us know via the comments.
