Sony India will not be bringing in the limited editions of hotly anticipated action-adventure game Uncharted 4. Several retailers have confirmed the company's reluctance to bring them in, owing to high price points.

"They [Sony India] have confirmed that it will not be available a few days ago. They wanted to price the Special Edition of the game close to Rs. 6,000. For a steel book and a few stickers it was a bit much," a retailer told Gadgets 360. During the PS3 era we've seen special editions of Sony first-party games available but this hasn't been the case now and it probably will be this way for some time to come.

"High price aside, they wanted to push higher quantities [of the Special Edition] which most of us are not comfortable with," a game store owner claimed. He added that it meant discussions of the the game's pricier Libertalia Edition were off the table due to being even more expensive.

While high price might be a deterrent for most fans, if you're the sort who lives and breathes Uncharted, you can always import these sought-after editions using our handy guide. Or if you can, coerce a friend or relative in the US or Europe to pick it up for you.

Aside from the standard edition of the game, there are two other editions. For $80 (around Rs. 5,400) there's the Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Special Edition for which includes a steel book case, a 48-page hardcover art book, stickers, and in-game currency to unlock items in multiplayer.

Meanwhile $120 (approximately Rs. 8,100) gets you the Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Libertalia Collector's Edition has all the content of the Special Edition along with a 12-inch statue of series protagonist Nathan Drake and a few multiplayer items.

This isn't the first time Sony has denied India its games. We've seen Gravity Rush and Ratchet & Clank denied local release as was Tearaway, which showed up almost four months later.

With close to a month to go before Uncharted 4 is available in India and the rest of the world, it will be interesting to see how Sony manages its launch. For many, it's deemed to be the rare game along with Call of Duty, FIFA, and GTA that should sell well throughout the year. But with supply of series staples like Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection being scarce, could we expect the same for Uncharted 4? Hopefully not.
