Raspberry Pi, the $35 computer that has garnered over a million fans worldwide, has added another feather in its cap. The developers of the little computer have introduced an even cheaper model of the computer that is selling for just $25.

Dubbed Model A (pictured above), the $25 Raspberry Pi is a slightly scaled down version of the $35 Model B. Model A comes without Ethernet connectivity and features only 1 USB port, compared to the two USB ports on the Model B. This means if you wish to connect the Model A Raspberry Pi to the network, you'll have to use a USB Wi-Fi adapter. Since there's only one USB port, if you wish to use any other USB peripheral, you'll have to use a (powered) USB hub to accommodate all USB devices.

Model A Raspberry Pi comes with just 256MB RAM compared to 512MB RAM in the Model B Raspberry Pi. However, Model A offsets all these disadvantages by consuming only one-third the power of its more powerful counterpart, making it ideal for use in projects with low power requirements.

The $25 Model A Raspberry Pi is currently open only for European orders, but it'll available for shipping to other regions "very soon".

There's more good news for Raspberry Pi fans. The Raspberry Pi foundation has revealed that a camera module (pictured above) for use alongside the little computer is in the works. The announcement was made via the website, where it was also noted that there is some work left to be done with respect to the module's drivers and it'll be "at least a month" before the unit ships.

Though the post itself was scarce on further details, comments on the post confirmed that it'll be a 5-megapixel camera that'll cost an additional $25. We expect the unit to find many takers for those looking at remote monitoring solutions.
