Microsoft Surface Book 2 Laptop Is Coming to India 'Later This Year'

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 laptop is coming to India. The company had launched the Surface Book 2 last year in two variants - 13-inch and 15-inch. However, only the 13-inch variant was available till now in select markets, including the US. Starting Wednesday however, the 15-inch model will be made available for pre-orders in 17 markets, not including India. Later this year though, the Surface Book 2 will be made available in both its 13-inch and 15-inch variants in all Surface markets, including India and 16 other markets. Microsoft has not given an exact date for this second phase of rollouts. Meanwhile, in terms of pricing the base 13-inch model of Microsoft Surface 2 starts at $1,499 (roughly Rs. 95,800), and 15-inch model at $2,499 (roughly Rs. 1,60,000)

In a blog, Microsoft says, that the pre-orders for Surface Book 2 (15-inch) begin on Wednesday in Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom. Meanwhile, countries like Bahrain, China, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Korea, Kuwait, Malaysia, Oman, Portugal, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand and the United Arab Emirates will get both the 13-inch and 15-inch Surface Book 2 later in the year.

Microsoft clarifies that since the launch last year, it has made the Surface Book 2 (13-inch) Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, the UK, and the US.

The Surface Book 2 is the successor to the Surface Book that was launched in 2015. The Surface Book 2 display can be detached, transforming it into a tablet. The laptops feature the latest 8th Gen Intel Core Processors and Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050, and 1060 discrete graphics. Surface Book 2 also supports the Surface Pen with tilt and 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. The laptop also comes with a Surface Dial on-screen. It also has a 5.0MP front-facing camera with 1080p HD video, and an 8.0MP rear-facing autofocus camera with 1080p Full HD video, dual microphones, and front-facing stereo speakers with Dolby Audio Premium.

There are seven different variants of the Surface Book 2, offering different processor, RAM and screen sizes. The configurations are: 13.5-inch, 256GB SSD, Intel Core i5; 13.5-inch, 256GB, Intel Core i7; 13.5-inch, 512GB SSD, Intel Core i7; 13.5-inch display, 1TB SSD, Intel Core i7; 15.inch display, 256GB SSD, Intel Core i7; 15.inch display, 512GB SSD, and Intel Core i7; and 15-inch display, 1TB SSD, and Intel Core i7.

The variants with eight generation Intel Core i7-8650U processors have quad-core and are clocked up to 4.20GHz on Max Turbo. The models with seventh generation Intel Core i5 Core i5-7300U processor are clocked up to 3.50GHz.

Meanwhile, the 13.5-inch PixelSense Display has a screen resolution of 3000x2000 pixels (267PPI) with an aspect ratio of 3:2. The 15-inch PixelSense Display has a screen resolution of 3240 x 2160 pixels with an aspect ratio of 3:2.

In terms of graphics, the 13.5-inch models come with Intel HD Graphics 620 integrated GPU, Intel UHD Graphics 620 integrated GPU, or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 discrete GPU w/2GB VRAM across their available SKUs. The 15-inch models have Intel UHD Graphics 620 integrated GPU or Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 discrete GPU w/6GB VRAM.

Connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth BT4.1 LE, Xbox Wireless built-in (in 15-inch models), USB 3.0 Type A, USB Type-C port, UHS-II SDXC card reader, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Surface Connect.
