BlackBerry Q10 seems all set to start shipping in the UK. According to news report by CNET, this smartphone is up for pre-order through major telecom operators and online retailers and is expected to be available to customers by the end of this month.

The website further claims that an unlocked BlackBerry Q10 cost 580 Pounds, which translates to roughly Rs. 48,400. As per earlier news report the unlocked version of BlackBerry Q10 was expected to be available for 530 to 535 Pounds (including VAT). Just like any other smartphone, UK customers have an option to pick BlackBerry Q10 for a contractual price. The contractual price starts from 36 Pounds per month, if you opt for a two-year contract with the telecom operator Orange. Under this plan, users will also get 1GB data per month.

The BlackBerry Q10 comes with the brand new BlackBerry 10 operating system (Review). It sports a 3.1-inch super AMOLED touchscreen. There is an 8-megapixel camera on-board. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 4G and NFC. BlackBerry Q10 also packs in 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and a 2100mAh battery. It was earlier touted that BlackBerry Q10 will start retailing 8 to 10 weeks after BlackBerry Z10.

It is a bit of a surprise that BlackBerry has priced its Q10 higher than BlackBerry Z10 (Review | Pictures). The unlocked BlackBerry Z10 is available for approximately 515 pounds (including VAT) in UK. Moreover, BlackBerry Q10 is a QWERTY offering and hence has a smaller screen so we expected its price to be at least $50 less compared to the BlackBerry Z10.

BlackBerry had launched BlackBerry Z10 on January 30 along with BlackBerry 10 operating system. It started out well in UK, though the recent sales reports for this smartphone are not too encouraging.

BlackBerry Z10 started retailing in India from February for Rs. 43,490. Currently, there is no word on when BlackBerry Q10 will start shipping in India and what will be its price in India.
