Gionee on Friday announced the availability of the Elife S5.5, which the company is calling the world's slimmest smartphone, in India. Priced at Rs. 22,999, the Gionee Elife S5.5 (White variant) is now available on the company's official online store.

The company had launched the smartphone in India last month with availability detailed for April 27. The Elife S5.5 smartphone went on sale on March 18 in China.

The Elife S5.5 flaunts a thin metal frame chassis and Gionee claims of it being the world's thinnest smartphone are not too of the mark, with the device 5.5mm at its slimmest, said to beat the previous record holder, the 5.75mm-thick Vivo X3.
