Gionee M7, M7 Power With FullView Displays Launched: Price, Specifications

Gionee, as promised, unveiled its new mid-range smartphones, the M7 and M7 Power, on Monday at an event in China. Notably, the Gionee M7 Power (aka Big Gold Steel 2) has significantly different specifications, apart from its larger 5000mAh battery. As teased by the company ahead of the launch, the Gionee M7 sports an 18:9 aspect ratio which is lately becoming a trend for new premium-level smartphones. The Gionee M7 Power also features an 18:9 aspect ratio.

The Gionee M7 has been priced at CNY 2,799 (roughly Rs. 27,500), and will be going on sale starting Tuesday in China. The Gionee M7 Power has been priced at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 20,000), and will be going on sale in China starting Saturday. The Gionee M7 will be available in Black, Champagne Gold, Sapphire Blue, Star Blue, and Maple Red while the Gionee M7 Power will be available in Blue, Black and Gold colours.

One of the biggest highlights of the Gionee M7 is its 6.01-inch FullView AMOLED display which comes with 18:9 2.5D curved glass and a screen resolution of 1080x2160 pixels. It is powered by 2.3GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio P30 SoC coupled with 6GB RAM and also comes with 64GB inbuilt storage. The smartphone supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 256GB). It runs on Android 7.1.1 Nougat with the company's Amigo OS 5.0 skin on top.

The M7 uses a hybrid SIM card slot, and comes with a fingerprint scanner at the back. It sports a 16-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/1.8 aperture, and also houses an 8-megapixel front camera. The handset measures 157x76x7.2mm and weighs 180 grams. Connectivity options on the handset include 4G with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, GLONASS, and NFC. The handset packs a 4000mAh battery with fast charging support.

The Gionee M7 Power, on the other hand, features a 6-inch 18:9 FullView display and comes with a 720x1440 pixels screen resolution. It is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core Snapdragon 435 processor coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB inbuilt storage. The smartphone supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 256GB). It runs Amigo OS 5.0 based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat and supports hybrid dual-SIM cards. The smartphone sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, and PDAF. There's also an 8-megapixel front camera. One of the biggest highlight of the M7 Power is its 5000mAh battery which also supports fast charging. The handset sports a fingerprint sensor at the back.
