Huawei Mate 9 Receiving Software Update With Notification Bug Fix and Camera Improvements

Huawei has started rolling out a software update to the Mate 9 smartphone. The update fixes some of the software issues that affected notifications on the device as well as bring some improvements to camera. The new update has started rolling out to Huawei Mate 9 users over-the-air (OTA) gradually.

Android Central in a report points out that the software update also bumps the Android security update version to November. The update is said to fix an issue in notifications that made reading the texts in it nearly impossible. On the camera front, the update adds 6x hybrid zoom to the Mate 9 smartphone. The report adds that there are general improvements in details and colour accuracy on the clicked shots. The Mate 9 has reportedly also seen improvements in low-light shots.

The Chinese company is said to have released the update ahead of the Mate 9 smartphone's Europe availability. The Wall Street Journal claims that the Huawei Mate 9 will also make it to the US market sometime in January 2017.

Launched earlier this year, Huawei Mate 9 was priced at a suggested retail price of EUR 699 (roughly Rs. 51,600) inclusive of taxes. The handset is expected to be available in China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, and the UAE in the first wave of launches. Unfortunately, Huawei is yet to reveal availability details of the Mate 9 for the Indian market.

The smartphone sports a dual rear camera setup designed in collaboration with Leica, which is the highlight feature. It sports a 20-megapixel monochrome sensor and a 12-megapixel RGB sensor, both with f/2.2 apertures. The smartphone also bears an 8-megapixel sensor with an f/1.9 aperture at the front.
