Huawei targets big boys with new phones, tablet

Huawei has announced three new phones at the Mobile World Congress. This includes the Huawei Ascend D, which Huawei proudly calls "the world's fastest smartphone".

The Huawei Ascend D is powered by Huawei's own K3V2 quad-core processor, capable of running at speeds upto 1.5 Ghz. It features a 4.5" screen, a 8-megapixel rear-camera that shoots full HD video and a 1.3-megapixel front-camera. The phone is less than a cm thick and weighs around 130 grams. An 1800mAh battery powers the phone, which also features integrated 5.1 surround sound and built-in noise cancellation techniques.

Huawei showcased two other models in the Ascend D series - the Ascend D quad XL, with a 2500mAh battery and the Ascend D1, a dual-core version of the Ascend D. All 3 phones come with stock Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Pricing and availability for all 3 models is yet to be confirmed.

Huawai also unveiled its newest tablet - the MediaPad 10 FHD. The tablet has a quad-core K3 processor, supports LTE and is pre-installed with Android 4.0. It also boasts of a 1920 X 1200 display and an 8 MP camera.

The tablet will be available in three capacities - 8 GB, 16 GB and 32 GB. A microSD slot can also be attached if more storage is required. Weighing a meager 585.13 grams and only 8.8mm thick, it's quite portable. It is equipped with Dolby Plus 5.1 channel surround sound, too.
