LG to unveil Optimus G on September 19?

After Apple's big iPhone announcement, seems like LG is now trying to grab the attention of world media. The Korean handset maker has sent out invites of a joint event with Qualcomm on September 19,2012 to launch a new smartphone.

According to Engadget, the new smartphone that is expected to be unveiled will be called LG Optimus G. The LG Optimus G is will be LG's first LTE smartphone that will have a quad-core Snapdragon S4 processor.

From the leaked images, it appears that this smartphone will resemble the LG Intuition in design but the same cannot be confirmed at the moment. It is also expected to have a 4.7-inch True HD IPS+LCD display with a pixel resolution of 1280 x 768. It will also have Android Ice Cream Sandwich, NFC, 2GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory.

There have also been rumours that this smartphone will feature a 13-megapixel "ultra slim camera". However, the LG Optimus G with an ultra slim camera may be available only in specific regions, while others being restricted to an 8-megapixel camera. There is no word in regards to what price tag this device will carry.

It is noteworthy that even HTC is holding an event on September 19, where it is expected to launch Windows Phone 8 devices. The smartphones that are expected to be unveiled by HTC include Zenith, Accord and Rio. Additionally, HTC may also announce two new tablets at this event.
