LG V30 Starts Receiving Android 8.0 Oreo Update

LG Electronics on Tuesday announced the rollout of Android 8.0 Oreo for its LG V30 flagship smartphone. The stable update comes almost a month after LG had started the 'LG OS Preview' beta programme on November 27. The Android Oreo update brings along improvements in battery, graphics, and UI performance.

As we mentioned, LG is officially rolling out the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the LG V30. The update is rolling out over the air (OTA) and is initially available on South Korean units. Alternatively, LG V30 users can upgrade by connecting to their PC using the LG Bridge programme. The LG Bridge app can be downloaded from LG's mobile download centre.

Android 8.0 Oreo brings features like the Picture-in-Picture mode, notification dots, enhanced quick settings, and smart auto fill. Proprietary features include high-resolution LDAC audio technology for minimising sound source loss. Android Oreo is also expected to improve speed, battery, and software performance on the LG V30.

LG V30 specifications

To recap, the LG V30 is a single SIM (GSM) smartphone that runs LG UX 6.0+ based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat, with Android 8.0 Oreo update available. The smartphone sports a 6-inch QHD+ (1440x2880 pixels) OLED FullVision display with HDR10 support. The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 SoC, coupled with 4GB RAM.

Talking about the cameras, the LG V30 features a dual camera setup on the rear: a 16-megapixel sensor with an f/1.6 aperture, a 71-degree wide-angle lens, and LED flash, and a 13-megapixel sensor with an aperture of f/1.9 and a 120-degree wide-angle lens. The smartphone has a 5-megapixel front sensor for selfies and video calling. The inbuilt storage on the LG V30 is 64GB expandable via microSD card (up to 2TB). Powering the internals is a 3300mAh non removable battery.
