Panasonic T40 With Android 4.4.2 KitKat Launched at Rs. 5,990

Panasonic has launched its new budget T40 smartphone in India, priced at Rs. 5,990. The company confirmed that the smartphone went on sale starting Thursday.

The new Panasonic T40 smartphone comes with dual-SIM support and runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out-of-the-box. It comes with a 4-inch (480x800 pixels) WVGA IPS display.

The smartphone is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core (unspecified chipset) processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The T40 comes with 8GB of inbuilt storage, which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 32GB).

It sports a 5-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash, while there is a secondary 2-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard. On the connectivity front, the T40 offers 3G, GPRS/ EDGE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Micro-USB, and Bluetooth options.

The Panasonic T40 packs a 1500mAh removable battery. It measures 126x62.5x9mm and weighs 117 grams. The smartphone will be available Bright Red, Dark Grey and White colours. It also includes sensors such as ambient light sensor, accelerometer and proximity sensor.

Commenting on the launch, Manish Sharma, Managing Director, Panasonic India, "In order to sustain in the market, Panasonic India is constantly undergoing innovation to deliver products as per the expectations of its customers. The launch of this model reinstates our commitment of delivering affordable devices providing the greatest innovation to our consumer with an uncompromised usage experience."

The company has launched the new T40 smartphone in a price category that has some serious completion from the likes Moto E, Asus ZenFone 4, and Redmi 1S.

The Motorola Moto E, priced at Rs. 6,999, was launched as the first Android 4.4 KitKat-powered smartphone in the sub-Rs. 10,000 category; the 4-inch Asus ZenFone 4 A400CG model is priced at Rs. 5,999, and along with other ZenFone series smartphones has been selling like hot cakes, and lastly, Xiaomi's budget Redmi 1S, launched at Rs. 5,999, has been following in the Mi 3's footsteps and breaking online sales records.
