Samsung Galaxy A2 Core sports a dated design with a single rear camera

Samsung Galaxy A2 Core, an anticipated entry-level smartphone, has surfaced online. Believed to be an Android Go edition phone, the Galaxy A2 Core carries the model number SM-A260. The model number was originally associated with Galaxy A20. The phone is likely to succeed Samsung's Galaxy J2 Core, which was launched last year in August. There is no word on the pricing or availability of the Galaxy A2 Core right now. The phone's Geekbench listing had earlier indicated that it will be powered by an octa-core processor.

Prolific tipster Evan Blass on Friday shared a render of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A2 Core on Twitter. The render shows the smartphone in two colour options – Black and Blue. The single rear camera with an LED flash as well as the massive front bezels can also been seen. The dated design of the phone clearly points to the budget nature of the phone, which falls in line with it being a Go edition smartphone.

A Geekbench listing of the phone, which was spotted in February 2019, had indicated that the Galaxy A2 Core will be powered by Exynos 7870 SoC, which includes eight Cortex-A53 CPU cores, Mali-T830 MP1 GPU, and is based on 14nm manufacturing process. The listing also suggested that the phone will run on Android 8.1 Oreo, most likely Go edition, and pack 1GB of RAM.

Other specifications of the phone are currently a mystery. Also, there is no word on the release of the smartphone, however if the date mentioned in the render is any indication, Samsung may announce the phone on March 22 next week.

To recall, Samsung's last Android Go edition phone – Galaxy J2 Core – runs on Android 8.1 (Go edition) and packs 5-inch qHD (540x960 pixels) screen, quad-core Exynos 7570 SoC, and 1GB of RAM. The phone also includes an 8-megapixel primary shooter on the back and a 5-megapixel front shooter.
