According to GFXBench, the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) features a 5-inch (720x1280 pixels) HD display with at least five finger gesture support. It runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow based on Samsung's own skin TouchWiz UI and will sport 1.5GB or 2GB of RAM. As per the listing, the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) sports a 5-megapixel rear camera with flash, face detection, autofocus, touch focus, and HDR photo. Additionally, there is a 2-megpixel front camera for selfies and video chats. Sensors include accelerometer, gyroscope and compass. Connectivity options include GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and most likely 4G VoLTE support.

According to the listing, the smartphone is powered by a 1.4GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, however a previous Geekbench listing indicated that the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) will sport a Snapdragon 430 MSM8937 octa-core CPU.

The price of the smartphone, according to a Zauba listing, is also expected to be at Rs. 6,800. However, do note that prices on import/ export sites like Zauba are only declared values for excise purposes, and not directly indicative of market price.

An image leak earlier also hints that the smartphone's design is similar to all of Samsung's budget Galaxy smartphones with a capsule-shaped Home Button at the bottom of the display and capacitive navigation buttons on either side. The image reveals that the power button is resting on the right edge, while the volume buttons are housed on the left edge of the Samsung galaxy J3 (2017).
