Highlights
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 9 benchmark results have emerged on Geekbench
  • The benchmark listing shows the presence of a Snapdragon 845 SoC
  • It suggests benchmark performance of Galaxy Note 9 aligns with Galaxy S9

While the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are yet to bring any success stories for Samsung, the Galaxy Note 9 has now been spotted on Geekbench. The latest benchmark listing reveals the key specifications of the Galaxy Note 9 as well as shows its top-end benchmark scores that are aligned with the Galaxy S9 models. It also points to the presumption that Samsung will offer the Galaxy Note 9 in the US with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. We can safely expect that its global version will be powered by the same Exynos 9810 SoC that has already been featured on the global Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ models.

The benchmark listing on the Geekbench site details the upcoming Samsung Galaxy handset with model number SM-N960U. This suggests that the listing is of none other than the Galaxy Note 9 as the last year's Galaxy Note 8 carried SM-N950U model number series in the US. Furthermore, the listing highlights that the model has a Snapdragon 845 SoC, coupled with 6GB of RAM and runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box. These offerings have enabled the smartphone to deliver a single-core score of 2,190 and multi-core score of 8,806.

Notably, the benchmark scores - both single- and multi-core scores - are comparable with the Snapdragon 845-powered Galaxy S9+ that received 2,390 scores in single-core tests and 8,420 scores in multi-core tests. But at the same time, when comparing the newly emerged benchmark results with the Exynos 9810-based Galaxy S9, there are inferior numbers as the Galaxy series flagship scored 3,648 in single-core tests and 8,894 in multi-core tests. We can presume that the benchmark performance of the Galaxy Note 9 will be improved after its public release as the scores available on the Geekbench site are likely to be captured from prototype hardware. Moreover, Samsung could add some optimisations before the launch of the new Galaxy Note model to make it, at least, as fast as the Galaxy S9+.

Samsung hasn't formally revealed any details about the Galaxy Note 9. However, some rumours in the past claimed that this new Galaxy handset will come with an under-display fingerprint sensor. But KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo earlier this month reported that Samsung might not include the under-display fingerprint sensor to avoid technological issues with its incorporation on the Galaxy Note 9. It is also expected that South Korean giant could launch the Galaxy Note 9 at a sooner than expected date as it already said to have started testing the smartphone's firmware globally.
