Samsung may have its plate pretty full with a bevy of smartphones and tablets launching this year. But the company just can't get enough. A new Samsung smartphone codenamed 'Godiva' has silently been approved by the FCC, reports Engadget.

The latest image of the Godiva reveals the model number SCH-I425, the FCC ID - A3LSCHI425 along with a 'for more information' calling line and the Made in Korea certification.

The device, which has now passed through the FCC's testing carries the CDMA and LTE bands, including support for future AWS networks, GSM roaming and NFC as well.

The Samsung Godiva hasn't been hiding though. Earlier last month, the device has been spotted earlier in a set of benchmarks on the GLBenchmark website and was leaked in images, courtesy Engadget.

The benchmarking website revealed that the Godiva, which is headed to Verizon in the US, is powered by a 1.4GHz MSM8960 Snapdragon S4 SoC along with Adreno 305 graphics, a 720p screen, Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean and support for Verizon's LTE network.

Engadget notes that the SCH-I425 model number hints at the possibility that it might be the successor to the Stratosphere II (which was known as the SCH-I415, the original Stratosphere was the SCH-I405) and could therefore sport a sliding keyboard. But the leaked image was indicative otherwise and the physical keyboard was totally absent. It also features NFC support within the back cover.

Samsung is yet to acknowledge the device's existence, let alone whether or not it belongs in the Stratosphere lineup, despite missing the QWERTY keyboard.
