If Donald Trump becomes the President of the United States, he says he will make Apple manufacture its products in the country instead of outsourcing the job to foreign countries such as China. Trump adds that he will impose a huge tariff on imports.

The Republican front-runner speaking at Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia on Monday commented on Apple's practice of manufacturing its computers and other devices overseas. "I think we're going to get things coming. We're going to get Apple to start building their damn computers and things in this country instead of in other countries." The announcement comes as part of Donald's promise to bring jobs back to the United States.

Apple currently has partnerships with a number of factories from where it gets most of its manufacturing done. While many believe Apple outsources these jobs to China and other countries because of the availability of cheap labour - which in turn decreases the manufacturing cost - Apple CEO has a different reasoning.

In the company's recent profile on CBS' 60 Minutes, Tim Cook told veteran journalist Charlie Rose that Apple outsources the job to Chinese and others because of their "vocational skills." The only product that Apple completely produces in the United States is the Mac Pro. The Cupertino-based company, however, assembles many of these products including the iPhone in the United States.

Apple has been in the limelight in several of the US presidential debates thus far. The world's most successful company has been called out for its strong stand for privacy. Candidates have been on both sides of the fence in the manner and degree of surveillance, but all agree greater cooperation is required from Silicon Valley firms including Apple to when required in the name of national security and counterterrorism. Apple became very prominent in its efforts to protect user data in 2014 with the release of iOS, which brought native encryption that would not let even the company cannot bypass a user's credentials.
