MapmyIndia has launched a new navigation device, Lx340, for Rs. 8,990. The device, a portable in- car navigation and entertainment system, comes with a 4.3-inch touch screen, and sports a matte-black finish. It offers entertainment features (for playing music, movies and browsing photos on the go), and Don't Panic software, a new, fast, smart and easy to use GPS navigation software interface, powered by 3D and house-level maps from MapmyIndia. Since the device is a dedicated GPS unit, it doesn't require Internet connectivity for navigation, unlike some smartphone-based solutions.
Th Lx340 navigator features door-to-door navigation to house addresses in 39 cities, 7.08 million points-of-interest across various categories, 4,551 cities at street level with localities, streets, landmarks, maps for 5,79,000 towns and villages connected by complete highway network across India, and 3D landmarks across India and 2D building footprints across 36 cities.
The navigator is powered by SiRF V GPS chipset and is based on Windows CE 6.0 OS. The device features 2GB of in-built storage with an expandable SD card slot up to 8GB (for storing movies, music, photos).
