One Touch Quality Coffee - Without Capsules and Plastic Waste

Want to make a cup of custom made brew from freshly ground beans? Without spending 15-20 minutes doing everything by hand, painstakingly measuring our your grounds and the water temperature? The Auroma One could well be what you're looking for, if this crowdfunded project is a success.

Unlike a capsule-based coffee machine, the Auroma One uses regular coffee beans of the sort you can buy at any store - this saves a lot of hassle, and also allows you to pick and choose the custom blend you would like. What's more, there's no plastic waste, so the environmental impact is much lower than using something like a Keurig.

The idea is that the Auroma One helps you to save time and effort, with one button brewing and smart features such as a warning on your smartphone when the coffee bean levels are running low. At the same time, the device itself is small and sleek, and looks really easy to use - all you have to do is but in water and beans (which you can do in advance) and then press the brew button whenever you want a coffee. The Auroma One will be Wi-Fi enabled and come with an app with support for various profiles, so different members of the family can brew coffee according to their taste with a simple touch of a button.

Here's a video to explain how it works:

The Kickstarter has crossed $40,000 (approximately Rs. 26.5 lakh) against a $100,000 goal (approximately Rs. 66 lakh), with 45 days to go. You can pledge $249 (roughly Rs. 16,500) for just the Auroma, or $379 (roughly Rs. 25,000) to get a metal filter as well, all delivered by October 2016, anywhere in the world.

About Kickstarter of the week
In this weekly column, we look at crowdfunding sites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter, to try and find the coolest new projects from the world of crowdfunding. Not everything we find here is going to be the next Oculus Rift or Pebble Smartwatch, and of course, with any crowdfunded project there's the risk that it won't actually ship, even after being funded.

Still, if you can afford to set a little money aside, some of these projects can be really cool, and worth backing.

For example, there's the Griffin Pocket Tool XL, a pocket sized multitool that is great for DIY enthusiasts; the Atmotube, a wearable air quality monitor; and the Ion Belt a smartphone powerpack in your belt.
