The Wallgers II Wallet Will Shield Your Cards, Charge Your Phone

Some credit or debit cards, public transport (e.g. Metro cards) and most office ID cards have RFID chips embedded in them that store your personal information. While it's mostly harmless, you don't want someone to be able to scan that information and steal your data.

That's why the Wallgers II, a Kickstarter funded wallet, which is made with lightweight RFID blocking materials, makes a lot of sense. Of course this means you can't just wave your wallet at the door when you're getting on to the Metro or into your office, but it ensures that your data is properly secure and can't be lifted.

That's not all that we liked about this wallet though. The Wallgers II includes a removable, slim battery charger which is fitted to the wallet, and you can use this to power up your smartphone on the go. Of course, you could buy a standalone slim charger to keep in your phone - there are many available - but the Wallgers II is custom made to fit perfectly around the battery, while most slim chargers either bulge out, or are too small to be very useful.

One other thing we liked about the wallet is that the card slot comes with a cutout near the bottom, so instead of having to pull your credit/ debit card out, you can easily slide it out.

Here's a video explaining the project:

The project only launched on Wednesday, and has a very modest $1,000 (approximately Rs. 66,000) goal, with 20 days to raise the money.

The project will accept funding until January 20, and the systems are expected to be delivered by May 2016.

To get the Wallgers II, you have to pledge $30 (approximately Rs. 2,000) (or $23 - Rs. 1,500 - for the early bird units). There is also a Wallgers Mini, which doesn't have the charger, and will set you back by $25 (approximately Rs. 1,660) (or $20 - Rs. 1,300 - for the early bird units).

About Kickstarter of the week
In this weekly column, we look at crowdfunding sites like Indiegogo and Kickstarter, to try and find the coolest new projects from the world of crowdfunding. Not everything we find here is going to be the next Oculus Rift or Pebble Smartwatch, and of course, with any crowdfunded project there's the risk that it won't actually ship, even after being funded.

Still, if you can afford to set a little money aside, some of these projects can be really cool, and worth backing.

For example, there's the indieGO, an all-in-one retro game cabinet; FLYBi VR Drone, which gives a bird's eye view of the world; and the SDJ, a Back to the Future inspired self-drying jacket.
