If you are a parent of a baby or young child, it is quite possible that photos of your baby that you uploaded to Facebook are scattered all around because kids below 13 years of age cannot sign up for Facebook, and hence cannot be tagged. You've probably figured out the only way to keep them together is to tag your significant other in these photos. Facebook realises this problem and on Tuesday announced a new feature called Scrapbook, which will allow parents to organise photos of kids under 13 in one central location.

"We're starting to pilot an optional way for you to organise photos of your child, using a special tag you choose to create," Facebook Product Manager, Dan Barak wrote, announcing the feature. "If you choose to tag your child in a photo it will be added to a customisable scrapbook. And, photos you choose to tag can be shared with your friends and your partner's friends."

Scrapbook, rolling out in the US on iOS, Android and desktop starting Tuesday, can serve as a private album or can be shared with your Facebook friends. Facebook states that Scrapbook allows parents to create a special tag for their kids. Only parents, linked via Facebook's relationship section, can add photos or change privacy settings.

Facebook is still trying to figure out a way to turn Scrapbook into a full profile the moment a kid turns 13. Barak told TechCrunch that, "Everyone who's on Facebook should control their own identity. It's (Scrapbook) private to them (teens) and they can do whatever they want. If they want to remove it they can, or they can make it more public."
