Facebook's 'Like' button has been talked about since its inception, more lately for the wrong reasons though. But now the social network is experimenting with a new 'Buy Tickets' button for the Events page.

Folks at All Facebook were the first to find the button that lets Event Page owners promote tickets in a better manner. Earlier, event organisers could list a site from where users could buy tickets, but that site would appear on an event page as a small link.

Now, a more prominent 'Buy Tickets' button directs users to wherever event tickets are being sold. Once a user clicks on the said button, they are directed to other sites around the web and do not allow users to conduct transactions directly from the event page on the social network.

Inside Facebook further notes that "any Facebook page that creates an event can add a link for tickets, which will create a "buy tickets" button on their event page." But the option is not available to individual users.

It also highlights that these buttons appear in the info section of an event, in a user's upcoming events section and also in the News Feed section about the event.

With the "buy tickets" button appearing in the News Feed stories about the event, users will be able to visit a purchase page directly from an ad whereby Facebook will get paid for the click and advertisers can track their conversions.

While the move is just to offer greater attention to various event creators with a dedicated button, some are now pondering over the thought that Facebook could be looking to venture into the ticketing business over a period of time.
