As WWDC edges closer, the rumours are flowing in fast and thick. The latest revolve around the next iPad, and the long-anticipated split-screen multitasking feature. A new report claims that Apple is working on a dual-app viewing mode for the next version of iOS - iOS 9 - to be unveiled as early as WWDC. Furthermore, the Cupertino giant is supposedly working on 12-inch iPad tablets codenamed J98 and J99 - and more commonly called iPad Pro. To top it all of, Apple might be adding support for multi-user logins.

If you recall, Apple was supposed to introduce the multi-window support in iOS 8 but it was a no-go at launch because it reportedly lacked the polish. Moving forward, a report by 9to5Mac suggests (9to5Mac LINK) that Apple is planning to introduce the split-screen mode in 1/2, 1/3, and 2/3 views depending on the apps. Apart from showcasing two different apps at the same time, the screen can also show two or more views of the same app. However, 9to5Mac's sources claim that the feature might still not make it to a reveal at WWDC because it might need more polish.

Another rumoured software feature - the multi-user login support - will allow individual users to have their own set of apps, documents and media for consumption on their user ID. However, this feature is unlikely to be showcased at WWDC and it could be added as an update to .1 or .2 upgrade of iOS 9.

The alleged iPad Pro, codenamed J98 (Wi-Fi only) and J99 (LTE), will apparently be an elongated iPad Air 2, save for the extra speaker holes. This new iPad is rumoured to include USB 3.0 support.

Let's hope that all the alleged software improvements actually help Apple regain lost footing with respect to the sales of the iPad - which have slowed down considerably.
