Google Nexus 7 8GB version out of stock on Google Play Store

Google's 8GB version of the Nexus 7 is no longer in stock on the Google Play Store. The popular $199 tablet, went from 'In Stock' to being listed as 'Coming Soon'. Users now looking to purchase the 7-inch tablet can choose to be notified via email confirming the tablet's availability once again.

This could possibly hint at two things. Either the tablet's demand has outweighed its supply or that it's time to introduce the 32GB version of the tablet, which is expected to be announced at a Google Android event on October 29 along with the LG Nexus 4 and a 10-inch Nexus tablet manufactured by Samsung.

Google is also planning to introduce a 3G variant of the tablet with HSPA+ antenna for on-the-go connectivity. Until now, we have seen the Wi-Fi-only line of Google's Nexus 7 tablet.

Earlier Asus, the manufacturer of the Nexus 7 had mentioned that the tablet will hit Indian shores in November. Last month, other reports had already hinted at a 3G-enabled Nexus 7 in the making, though there were no details of pricing or availability at the time.

According to a recent media report, the Google Nexus 7 has become the highest selling Android tablet just three months since its launch in July. Britain's largest mobile retailer Carphone Warehouse said it has seen a huge demand for this smaller sized, 7-inch tablet running on Android 4.1.2.

This isn't the first time we've seen the Nexus 7 surpass the search giant's expectations. Back in July, the 16GB version of the tablet was no longer in stock in both the US and UK Play Stores while orders for the 8GB version were being accepted.

A quick specs reminder, the Nexus 7 runs on Android Jelly Bean packing in a 1.3GHz Tegra 3 quad-core processor with 1GB RAM, 1.2MP front camera, 8/16GB of internal storage and NFC.

If Google decides to discontinue the 8GB version, it wouldn't be wrong, considering Amazon's Kindle Fire HD and the recently launched iPad mini start at 16GB (Also see: Apple iPad mini vs Amazon Kindle Fire HD, Google Nexus 7, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0) But until things are official, we hope to see the 8GB make an appearance in the Play Store soon.
