HP has launched its new Windows 8.1-based tablet in India, the HP Stream 8, at Rs. 16,990. The tablet has gone up on sale via company's official store without any announcement.

The tablet was unveiled back in September last year, with a 7-inch variant dubbed the HP Stream 7. Then HP had priced the Stream 7 and Stream 8, at $99.99 (approximately Rs. 6,100) and $149.99 (approximately Rs. 9,200) respectively. The PC giant's Stream family of devices had also included two new HP Stream laptops, the HP Stream 11 and HP Stream 13, priced at $199.99 (approximately Rs. 12,300) and $229.99 (approximately Rs. 14,100) respectively.

The 3G-enabled HP Stream 8 is a single-SIM (Micro-SIM) device and runs Windows 8.1 out-of-the-box. As the name suggests, it features an 8-inch HD (1280x800 pixels) IPS display.

The HP Stream 8 tablet is powered by an Intel Atom Z3735G processor (1.8GHz, 4 cores, 4 threads) coupled with Intel HD graphics and 1GB of DDR3 RAM. The device sports a 5-megapixel AF rear facing camera (without flash), and a secondary 2-megapixel front facing camera.
