Google is said to working on the next generation Nexus 7 tablet that is expected to be unveiled soon.

If the screenshots shared on a Google+ page are true, an Asus support executive revealed the specifications of this tablet via live chat. A user asked the support executive when the Asus K009 - rumoured codename of the next generation Nexus 7 tablet - would launch, and the executive replied July this year and went on to give detailed specifications of the tablet.

According to the executive, the second generation Google Nexus 7 tablet will come with 7-inch display with a resolution of 1920X1080 pixels. The tablet will be powered by Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor along with 2GB of RAM. This is in line with the earlier rumours that suggest that this tablet will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor rather than the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor.

Further, the executive said, the tablet will come with 32GB of internal storage and connectivity options will include Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC and LTE connectivity. The tablet will come with 5-megapixel rear camera, a 1.2-megapixel front facing camera and a 4,000mAh battery on-board, the executive said.

The Asus representative also shared that the next Nexus 7 will run on Android 4.3.

A couple of weeks back, a DigiTimes report had suggested that Google will start retailing its new 7-inch tablet by July. This report also went on to claim that the company will be looking at pricing the tablet slightly higher than the current Nexus 7, perhaps at $229.

Google had managed to make a big splash in the tablet market with the launch of its Nexus 7 tablet last year. It was expected that the company will be unveiling its successor at this year's Google I/O but that of course did not happen.
