Since the launch of Xperia Z and ZL smartphones, Sony has been quite aggressive in terms of launching new smartphones in India in a timely fashion. The company now seems to be gearing up to launch its much-talked about Xperia Tablet Z in India.

This tablet is already up for pre-order on Infibeam.com and Flipkart.com. Infibeam.com has listed a 32GB Wi-Fi only version for Rs. 44,990 and has mentioned that this tablet will be available from June 3, 2013 and will be shipped in 2-3 business days post its launch. Flipkart.com on the other hand has listed a 16GB 3G version for the same price. Both Flipkart and Infibeam are offering a free leather case with the purchase of this tablet.

The Xperia Tablet Z was first announced in January 2013 and the company had mentioned that this tablet will be available first in Japan from spring 2013. It was also showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2013.

The Xperia Tablet Z sports a 10.1-inch screen with full-HD (1920 x 1200 pixels) display. It runs Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) and is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. The tablet comes with 2GB of RAM. The internal storage of the tablet can be further expanded via a microSD card.

The major USP of the tablet, however, is its form factor. At 6.9mm, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z is currently amongst the slimmest tablets around and it weighs 495 grams. Sony also claims that the tablet is waterproof and rustproof. It features an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 6,000mAh battery. It will be available in Black and White colour options.

Sony had announced that it will launch the Xperia Tablet Z in May in the Indian market, on the sidelines of the launch of its Xperia Z (Review | Pictures) smartphone.
