August didn’t have a lot to be excited about, so much so that we only picked three instead of our regular five picks. September seems to be better on paper, with the return of Colombia-based crime drama Narcos for a second season at the start of the month, and a new superhero entry from the house of Marvel on the final day.

Scroll below to see our five guaranteed-good picks for September 2016, and the full list of movies and TV shows coming to Netflix India after that.

Narcos: Season 2 / September 2
The story of Colombian drug lord Pablo Escobar (Wagner Moura) and the Medellín Cartel continues in the second season of Netflix’s fictional take on real events, told through the eyes of American DEA agents played by Boyd Holbrook and Pedro Pascal, local police, and Escobar himself. It’s a bit flashy and over the top, but hey so are drug lords.

Marvel’s Luke Cage: Season 1 / September 30
Netflix and Marvel’s TV partnership continues with third series (after Daredevil and Jessica Jones), created by Cheo Hodari Coker – who has previously worked on Ray Donovan and Southland. It stars Mike Colter as the eponymous character, whom we first met in Jessica Jones, supported by the likes of Mahershala Ali, Alfre Woodard, Simone Missick, Theo Rossi, Frank Whaley and Sônia Braga.

The Big Short / September 12
Starring Christian Bale, Steve Carell, Ryan Gosling and Brad Pitt, The Big Short was one of the best films of last year as it expertly distilled the world of finance for easier understanding (with the help of people such as Margot Robbie and Selena Gomez), and displayed Wall Street’s penchant for self-profit in a vicious loop. Also picked up the Oscar for Best Adapted Screenplay.

The White Helmets / September 16
The Syrian refugee crisis is an ongoing humanitarian issue, involving millions of people. This short documentary explores their trials and tribulations from the lens of three rescue workers, as they try to balance saving civilians with safety of their own. It’s been directed by Orlando von Einsiedel, nominated for an Oscar for his work on mountain gorillas docu Virunga.

Easy: Season 1 / September 22
An anthology half-hour comedy series set in Chicago, Easy will deal with characters going through “the modern maze of love, sex, technology and culture”. It will feature the likes of Orlando Bloom, Malin Åkerman, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Aya Cash, Hannibal Buress, and Emily Ratajkowski. It comes from the mind of indie micro-budget expert Joe Swanberg, whose most high-profile work is the 2012 comedy film Drinking Buddies.
