  • More details for Rogue One will arrive Friday with EW's latest issue.

Everyone's famous Sith Lord - Darth Vader - will make an appearance in this year's Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, according to a new report.

Rumours abounded since the start of the year that the character would be part of the film one way or another. And with the possible leak of a book behind Rogue One back in May providing the character names for rebels and that white-caped Imperial officer, it also had a strong hint that Darth Vader would be present in the movie.

Speaking of character names, Rogue One has the most diverse cast of a Star Wars film yet, according to EW. There's Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso; Diego Luna as Captain Cassian Andor, a Rebel Alliance Officer; Jiang Wen as Baze Malbus, a freelance assassin; Donnie Yen is a spiritual warrior known as Chirrut Imwe; Riz Ahmed will play someone called Bodhi Rook; Forest Whitaker as Saw Gerrera, a veteran of the Clone Wars; and Alan Tudyk as a performance-capture droid called K-2SO.

EW noted that one of these has been seen before by Star Wars fans - that's Whitaker's Gerrera who has appeared in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Apart from that, Mads Mikkelsen will play a scientist called Galen Erso - father of top rebel Jyn Erso - and "whose knowledge is sought by both sides" in the war between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance.

Plus, Ben Mendelsohn plays Director Orson Krennic, an Imperial Military Director. EW described him as someone "who [is] eager to earn the favour of the Emperor [Palpatine] - and avoid the wrath of his black-masked enforcer" i.e. the one and only Darth Vader.

The Sith Lord was last seen on the big screen in 2005's Episode III: Revenge of the Sith after Palpatine aka Darth Sidious put Anakin Skywalker in the famous black suit to save him from near certain death.
