It seems that Google is slowly trimming away the restrictions from the Chromecast. The device, which allows users to transfer online video content from a mobile device or desktop onto an HD television, has now been updated to support YouTube live-streaming.

According to a report via Android Police, Google Chromecast users can now cast livestream videos from YouTube via a desktop web browser to the device connected TV. In order to set it up, user can visit any live YouTube event on a desktop computer and press 'Cast' button. It will be streamed the same way a user streams a pre-recorded event. Presently the feature is not available on Android and iOS devices. Also in addition to the livestream videos, it was also recently reported that Chromecast can stream private YouTube videos as well.

Till now, Google hasn't updated its Chromecast support page with details, making this a silent release. Previously, there have been several updates to remove the restrictions it had in place since the device's release in America. Google had first unveiled the finger-sized device last year in July for $35. Eight months after the American release, the search giant launched its Chromecast in Canada and 10 countries of Europe.

The Chromecast device connects with smartphones, tablets and personal computers to beam Internet content to TVs and monitors. The Apple and Roku streaming boxes rely on a standard remote control to select Internet content.

Available for $35 (approximately Rs. 2,100) on Amazon, the Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player is one of the cheapest modes of streaming content from a cellular device to a television over Wi-Fi.
