Google is said to be working on a high-end version of Home speaker with stereo sound. A report citing two sources familiar with the project claim that the new smart speaker is internally called Google Home "Max".

Unfortunately, there's no word on the design or features we can expect on the new "Max" speaker. It is expected to come with a single tweeter with dual mid-range drivers. As for looks, the report says that the new "Max" speakers are said to be premium in both design and build material. A source, however, said that the Google Home "Max" is a "tentative name."

The report also adds that the alleged smart speaker made an appearance at Google's closed door meet where other unannounced products were also showcased. The report, however, says that there's no surety whether the "Max" smart speaker will be unveiled alongside other products on October 4 event.

The move can be seen as Google's attempt to expand reach of its Google Assistant to different form factors or new products. Previous leaks have already suggested that Google is working on small-sized smart speaker likely to be called Google Home Mini. It is said to be priced at $49 (roughly Rs. 3,200) by the company.

Google is all set to unveil second-generation Pixel smartphones at an event next week. Based on preliminary leaks, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL smartphones should run on Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box, and be powered by Snapdragon 835 processor. Other specifications expected include IP67 dust and water resistance rating and camera improvements. Apart from new Pixel smartphones, Google is also likely to launch new Chromebook - Pixelbook, mini variant of its Home smart speaker, and the next generation of Daydream VR headsets.
