With the film’s release just five months away, Marvel has released a new trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. The new trailer has a lot more of Baby Groot than the first teaser, more of the bromance between Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord and Dave Bautista’s Drax, all accompanied by a 70s track in the form of Sweet’s Fox On the Run.

The surprising thing is that even at an over two-minute run, it’s still being referred to as a “teaser trailer” by Marvel – despite already giving a brief look back in October. There’s much more footage here obviously, with the reveal of a giant squid-like creature that looks to be one of the film’s big action set-pieces, along with Rocket (Bradley Cooper) instructing a Baby Groot (Vin Diesel) on what not to do with the atomic bomb: don’t push the button.

Beyond that, there is tons of action in the new trailer – from Zoe Saldana’s Gamora willingly launching herself at the creature, Pratt steering away from a bee-like swarm of spacecrafts, and even Baby Groot getting in on the action – with what seems like a quite powerful vine grip.

The trailer also provides a look at the new font and colour choice for the film’s title card. Since its release just 36 hours ago, the new trailer has already amassed 78 million views across various platforms. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the sequel to 2014’s original that grossed over $750 million worldwide, is set for a May 5, 2017 release. It will be the fifteenth film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, preceded by last month’s release of Doctor Strange, and followed by Spider-Man: Homecoming in July 2017.

In other Marvel news, the studio revealed that Luke Cage – which is a part of the Netflix-Marvel partnership, and leads into The Defenders, colloquially known as The Avengers’ TV counterpart – will be getting a second season. There’s no word on when it’ll arrive, as the 2017 lineup is already loaded with the likes of Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher; and new seasons of Daredevil and Jessica Jones have already been greenlit by Netflix.
