After making the Apple Watch available in nine countries last week, Apple is planning to launch the wearable in the second wave of countries in June this year.

Apple CEO Tim Cook during the company's quarterly earnings call on Monday announced the Apple Watch will arrive in additional countries in late-June. Cook however did not mention the second wave countries the smartwatch will be launched in.

"We were able to deliver Apple Watch to more customers over the weekend than we initially expected. I'm generally happy with how we're moving with the ramp. With any new product, you end up taking more time to ramp. By sometime in late June we currently anticipate being in a position that we could begin to sell the Apple Watch in additional countries," he said.

Cook additionally mentioned (via 9to5mac) that more Apple Watch units were shipped to pre-order customers in the nine countries over the weekend than what the company expected. Cook says Apple is still gauging market demand for the Apple Watch. It is worth noting that while the Watch on launch day on Friday had over 3,000 apps available, it now has over 3500 apps for its users.

The Apple Watch demand is currently outstripping supply, said Cook. "From a demand point of view, it's hard to gauge when you don't have product in stores," he said. It is worth noting that Apple is only selling the watch online and in select third-party boutiques due to the large number of models and straps for the watch.
