Intex in collaboration with MediaTek on Thursday unveiled the new iRist Junior and the iRist Pro smartwatches. Intex showcased the two new smartwatches at the second Smart Cities India 2016 Expo in New Delhi.

The Intex iRist Junior has been priced at Rs. 3,999 while the iRist Pro's pricing will be revealed closer to its release date.

Intex claims the iRist Junior is the first IoT (Internet of Things) based wearable device from Indian brand and is powered by the MediaTek (MT6261). It comes with GPS connectivity that will help parents keep a track of their children. The smartwatch targeted at kids features a 0.96-inch TFT display and weighs 48.5 grams. It is IP65 certified which means it is water and dust resistant, and is compatible with Android and iOS devices. The device packs a 580mAh battery.

The iRist Pro will be also compatible with Android devices running 4.4 KitKat and above. The new iRist Pro looks like to be the successor to the company's first smartwatch - the Intex iRist smartwatch.

Commenting on the launch, Sanjay Kumar Kalirona, Head, Mobile Business, Intex said, "MediaTek is an important partner for us and together our endeavour is to bring the best products to the consumers. We have strengthened our portfolio of wearable devices with the launch of these new watches, which will help us in addressing the growing demand for this segment."

Kuldeep Malik, Country Head, Corporate Sales International, Mediatek India, said, "The world is continually moving towards more IoT devices. By partnering with Intex, we are enabling cutting-edge wearable devices that will provide consumers with superior products and help expand our offerings in the IoT and wearables space."
