Adobe on Tuesday announced the availability of a companion iPad app for its photo-editing software, Lightroom 5. Called Lightroom mobile, the app is available under the Creative Cloud Photography Program, which also includes Photoshop CC and Lightroom 5 for Rs. 499 per month. The app brings many of the photo-editing tools available on the desktop version of Lightroom 5 to the iPad.

Some of the features that will be available on the Lightroom mobile app include non-destructive processing of files; utilising new Smart Preview technologies; syncing edits, metadata and collection changes with desktop version; automatically importing images captured on the iPad and sync to the Lightroom catalogue on the desktop or Mac; working on images even when the iPad is in offline mode, and allowing users to sync photos between Lightroom 5 and Lightroom mobile. Adobe says the photos can be viewed on any Web browser.

As mentioned the whole programme is available for Rs. 499 per month. This will include Lightroom 5, Photoshop CC, Lightroom mobile and access to public portfolio site through Behance. Users who are members of Creative Cloud complete plan or Photoshop Photography Program will automatically receive access to Adobe Lightroom mobile. Lightroom mobile is immediately available for iPad 2 or later running iOS 7 or higher, from the iTunes App Store and requires Lightroom 5.4 for Mac or Windows.

Adobe also said an iPhone app of Lightroom mobile will be launched soon. Speaking about the availability of Lightroom mobile for iPad, Umang Bedi, Managing Director, South Asia, Adobe System, said, "With the launch of Lightroom mobile, we've unlocked professional-class photographic workflows from the desktop. Lightroom and Photoshop redefined digital photography on the desktop and now, thanks to Adobe, photographers can perfect images, wherever they are and, via Creative Cloud, seamlessly synchronise the photos back to their desktop catalog."
