Angry Birds Stella POP! is the latest game from Rovio bearing the iconic Angry Birds moniker to hit the general public. Earlier we reported that the game was soft launched in Canada in order to gauge user feedback prior to unleashing it on app stores the world over. It appears that Rovio thinks the game has spent enough time in incubation and is ready for mass consumption.

The new Angry Birds game draws inspiration from Bubble Witch Saga and Bust-a-Move, having you pop bubbles to defeat the series' villainous pigs. Angry Birds Stella POP! follows has match-three style gameplay mechanics similar to Candy Crush Saga. What this means is, you'll be matching three or more similar items in order to progress. It's simpler compared to the slinging of birds across a phone screen that Angry Birds is known for.

The game is available on iOS and Android and sports some interesting features such as being able to sync progress between mobile and tablets as well as a host of gameplay modes like Drop the Pigs and Beat the Clock.

Much like last month's Jolly Jam, Angry Birds Stella POP! is seems like an attempt from Rovio to stay relevant in an increasingly competitive and cut-throat mobile space that's currently dominated by companies like King (makers of Candy Crush Saga), Supercell (creators of Clash of Clans), and GungHo (developer of Puzzle & Dragons).
