Dropbox, the popular cloud storage firm, on Tuesday rolled out a much-needed sharing feature dubbed Action Extension as a part of its latest app update for iOS devices. Users can now upload files from almost any app on to their Dropbox accounts without opening the cloud storage app. Notably, the feature was already available for Android devices for a while.

After the update to version 3.7, Dropbox for iOS users will now see the 'Save to Dropbox' feature under the sharing button of any app and can directly upload the files to their Dropbox accounts in specific folders. If in case the users are not able to view the feature, they can simply open the share menu of a photo or a document that they want to save, scroll to right on the bottom row and tap on 'More' option to turn on the Dropbox Action Extension. Users can also reorder the extensions on the sharing list. The updated app is available to download from the App Store.

It is worth mentioning that the Microsoft counterpart of the Action Extension feature is yet to reach the OneDrive cloud storage service for iOS users. The firm announced the app for the platform back in November last year, following the partnership Microsoft announced with the cloud storage and file-sharing service for its Office suite.
