Facebook's Messenger app on Windows 10 is being quietly updated and now allows you to place voice and video calls just like on Android and iOS version of the messaging platform. Even though users could earlier make voice/video calls from Facebook.com or the web version of Messenger as an alternative to the app, now they can make calls from within the app itself.

Similar to the Android and iOS version of the app, the call icon in the top right corner of your screen in the Windows 10 app during a chat glows green when the contact is currently active. Even though the desktop app does not allow users to set reminders or send message to the contact when a call is coming in, it does allow notifications for incoming calls.

Venture Beat cites a Facebook spokesperson to report the feature started rolling earlier this month.

As on the mobile versions of the app, users get the options like mute and video capture on the call screen of the desktop app.

Also, they will get the option of sending a voicemail in case the other person isn't available to take up the call. Users are asked to rate the quality of the calls after they end.

Currently the group voice calls feature is working on the desktop version of the app but the group video calls are not working, reports Venture Beat. The group calling feature, which allows you to make group calls with up to 50 people, was introduced to the Messenger app earlier this year. Notably, the Facebook Messenger app for Windows Phone does not yet support voice or video calling.
