Nokia reveals new apps, games for Asha and Lumia phones, including Instagram

Following the announcement of new Asha phones, two new Lumia devices and a brand new tablet, Nokia also touched upon the new apps that are coming to the Lumia and Asha platforms.

The Finnish handset giant reiterated that popular apps Instagram, Vine and Flipboard are coming to Windows Phone, while WhatsApp, LINE and Nimbuzz Messenger will arrive on Asha feature phones.

In addition to these, it also announced that Asphalt 8: Airborne, the latest iteration of the popular car racing game, would be arriving soon on Lumia devices featuring 44 different high-performance cars and Temple Run 2, the sequel to the popular Temple Run game. Another game that's coming to Lumia devices is Rail Rush, which is a tilt-controlled adventure game.

Nokia has also detailed CamScanner, a document scanning app that makes use of the Lumia phones' camera, and My Talking Tom, a take on the popular Talking Tom app that mimics the user.

Coming to imaging and video apps, Nokia has also announced phriz.be, an app that allows you to share high-resolution photos with your friends and family; PicFeed, an app that keeps a track on your Instagram photo feeds and lets you share them with your friends; Vine, the popular short video sharing app from Twitter; PicTag, that allows you to tag users in pictures and SophieLensHD which has been redesigned for the larger screen Lumias and allows you to view photos in full high-definition and add filters, and locations (using HERE) or Wikipedia information.

Apart from these the popular media server platform Plex will also be made available for Lumia Windows Phone devices. Papyrus, an app that uses your finger or a stylus to take notes on your Lumia, has also been announced.

In addition to these, Nokia has reiterated that the popular WhatsApp instant messenger will also arrive on its Asha phones, in addition to the Photofunia app, PicFeed and PicTag apps, and the Danger Dash game. It also announced Untangle RE, a logic-based game, StarBlox, a blocks game and Cricatak app for the Asha platform. These games are winners of the Nokia Asha Developer Competition.
