About Daddy Movie (2017)

Daddy is a crime thriller set in the late 70s Bombay when a massive shut down of textile mills left tens of thousands of mill workers out of work.

Gawli (Arjun Rampal) the son of one such unemployed mill worker forms a gang along with his friend Rama Naik (Rajesh Shringarpure) and resorts to small-scale gambling of matkas (earthen pots).

After committing a murder, a renowned gangster Maqsood Bhai (Farhan Akhtar)- a character loosely inspired by Dawood Ibrahim takes them under his wing. However, the two split soon due to growing ideological differences and ego clashes.

After the insistence of his wife Zubeida (Aishwarya Rajesh), Gawli almost gives up the murky profession only to return even more fiercely after Nasik is murdered.

The rest of the plot revolves around his journey of becoming a prominent underworld figure and a renowned politician called Daddy.
