On Netflix, September saw a fresh season of BoJack Horseman, one of the most thoughtful comedies these days, and the return of Star Trek to the small screen more than a decade after the last series in the franchise went off the air. Alongside that, Rick and Morty's third season continues as well, and some great films and TV shows.

There are fewer big names coming in October, but you'll find plenty to like with some classic comedies like Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, and fun superhero shows like Season 5 of Arrow coming to Netflix. There's also a documentary about singer Chris Brown, called Welcome to my Life, a behind the scenes look at his life and concerts, in which he also talks about his 2009 assault on his then-girlfriend Rihanna. There's also It Was Fifty Years Ago Today! The Beatles: Sgt. Pepper & Beyond, a documentary about the making of the Beatles' revolutionary album Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Club Band. Unfortunately, the documentary filmmakers did not get the rights to the Beatles' songs, and the absence of original music is something most reviews criticised.

Season 14 of Dragon's Den, the UK-based reality show based on Japan's Money Tigers, is also arriving on Netflix this October. You might be more familiar with the US version of the show, Shark Tank - season 7 and 8 of which are also available on Netflix right now. Netflix also gets Punch Drunk Love, the highest rated Adam Sandler movie on Rotten Tomatoes right now. The film is topped by Top Five, where he plays himself, so that doesn't really count, and The Meyerowitz Stories (New and Selected), which releases next month, so we're marking the top spot for Punch Drunk Love. Given Netflix's penchant for putting up terrible Adam Sandler movies - including paying for one, the Ridiculous 6, which incidentally has a 0 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

That's just a small sampling of everything that's coming to Netflix in October. Before getting into the full list, here are our top five picks of shows and movies that are coming to Netflix India in October.

Pawn Sacrifice/ October 1
This 2014 film starring Tobey Maguire, Peter Sarsgaard, and Liev Schreiber is a true story about the American grandmaster Bobby Fischer. The events of the movie take place during the height of the Cold War, and Fischer finds himself pitted against Russian chess masters as a pawn between the two superpowers.

The film was praised by critics, particularly for Tobey Maguire's performance as Fischer. The film is a great look at genius and madness, while also giving you an insight into the world of chess.

Attack on Titan: Part 1/ October 1
Attack on Titan: Part 1 is a Japanese animated film based on the manga of the same name. The film was split into two parts, and Part 1 introduced us to the Titans, a giant race that appeared and destroyed most of humanity.

People had to build giant walls, and peace returned for 100 years, but the film sees a Titan attack that breaches the wall, and a rampage against humanity follows. The one and a half hour movie is brutal but original, and will keep you engaged through the whole way.

Desierto/ October 1
This Mexican-French thriller starring Gael Garcia Bernal (Motorcycle Diaries, Mozart in the Jungle) and directed by Jonas Cuaron (who co-wrote Gravity) has won prizes at film festivals, and follows a group of illegal immigrants trying to cross the Mexico-US border.

When the truck carrying them breaks down in the middle of nowhere, the migrants try and make the journey on foot - but they end up being hunted by a rifle toting vigilante who kills off the group one by one. Structured like a horror film, Desierto is thought provoking, but ultimately let down by being predictable.

Train to Busan/ October 1
In the last couple of years, we've seen a few amazing Korean movies set on trains. In 2013, there was Snowpiercer, an amazing action movie about a train that constantly circles the globe with the remnants of humanity on board, and a class struggle that takes place on board.

Last year, we got Train to Busan, which is easily one of the most exciting zombie films we've seen. Our protagonist is taking his daughter on a train journey, to see her mother who lives in Busan - and along the way to the station there are signs that something is wrong. By the time they reach, a panic is building, and a woman gets onto the train with a bite on her leg. You can tell where this is going - a full out zombie attack follows, and the rest of the movie is a mix of action and horror that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

The Last Kingdom/ October 22
A BBC series based on the Saxon Stories series by the Sharpe's books writer Bernard Cornwell, The Last Kingdom is a semi-historical adventure that's set during the ninth-century, in England. The country is a group of small kingdoms, that's facing invasion from the Danes. It follows Uthred - a young boy from Northumbria, whose father is killed by the Danes, and he ends up falling in with them.

The Danes quickly capture the kingdoms of Mercia, and East Anglia, and then prepare to attack Wessex, the "last kingdom" of the English. At this point, Uthred switches sides, and serves the king of Wessex - Alfred, who is known today as Alfred the Great.
