Rise of the Tomb Raider, the second chapter in a third-person video game series that is a timed-exclusive on Microsoft's console systems the Xbox One and Xbox 360, now has a playable demo for the former.

There is no word from developer Crystal Dynamics on what is and isn't part of the demo, and there doesn't seem to be a demo for the Xbox 360.

Rise of the Tomb Raider released in November for the Xbox ecosystem and in our review we gave it a 7 out of 10, on account of "the narrative [being] one of the high points of this game" but "a short campaign and threadbare replayability" wasn't enough to justify its high price point of Rs. 4,699.

Thankfully, the game is currently available for Rs. 3,000 owing to Microsoft's end of the year sale for Xbox. So if you've been holding out on buying the game since its launch, now is the perfect time: get the Rise of the Tomb Raider demo and make a decision on your purchase before the sale ends.

New downloadable content - called Baba Yaga: Temple of the Witch - should add further play time when it releases next month, but at a further cost. You can get access to the DLC separately or as part of a bundle which is also on sale now.

Rise of the Tomb Raider is expected to be released for the PC in the beginning of 2016 and will arrive on PlayStation 4 a year from its original launch, in late 2016.
